NOVEMBER

Megadeth - AJR's 'Jock Mix' of Megadeth's "Krush 'em" is downloadable at: http://www.megadeth.com/ie.html (they mention Anthony there also). Paul Hagar and Karaydi Sutedja were a big part of the remix also! Paul added some cool guitar and engineered, and Karyadi did all the editing and some cool pans. AJR did the keys and drums/programming, Craig Young played the bass.

Y2K - An excerpt from the AJR/Mudhens composition "I hate my life" was heard by 16.5 million viewers mid-November on the NBC movie of the week: "Y2K".

Heading to Atlanta - After two months of working here at home, on some really cool music, (Alex McDougall, Sacred Raisin Cakes, The Fools' new "Y2k" single, Annette Kramers new song, echohead, writing stuff with Michael Troy...) AJR and Karyadi are heading back south, this time to Atlanta. Upcoming projects in Nashville and Atlanta include work with Ed Roland, work on Shawn Mullins' follow-up to "Souls Core", hopefully more stuff with Kieth Gattis, some programming for producer Malcolm Springer and some serious coffee drinking at bongo java.

Elton John - Ed Roland of Collective Soul, his wife Stephanie, LA Reid of La Face Records, and Anthony Resta had dinner with Elton John at "Prime" in Atlanta. It was a surreal experience. AJR was so in awe, he spoke very little. Elton may end up playing some piano on the next Collective Soul record, he's a huge fan and a very cool guy.

Annette K. - From a Castle von Buhler press release: New releases are in the works! Stay tuned for news on the upcoming full-length CD by ex-Opium Den singer Annette K., who has joined forces with musical tornado and producer Anthony J. Resta to create a lush, exotic world of sound. For fans of Dead Can Dance, Curve, and otherworldly electronic music in general.

Noble and Cooley - Anthony holding a cup of coffee, not drum sticks, will be featured in a Noble and Cooley add in the millenium issue of Modern Drummer (out in November) and also the December issue of Recording Magazine... Noble and Cooley is making its superior recording kits available to the pro audio world in a new marketing plan.

JULY

Medageth remix Anthony just remixed the Megadeth single "Krush 'em", contributing new live drums, big beats, synths and programming... Paul Hager engineered and Karyadi Sutedja did sound design and digital editing.

Full Devil Jacket - For the past month, Anthony Resta and his assistant Karyadi have been working in Nashville at New Reflections and East Iris on the debut record for "FULL DEVIL JACKET" a really hard rocking band with elements of Corn, Tool, NIN, with tons of heart and soul.
A major bidding war between Interscope, Mercury, Epic, etc. has ended and the band has just signed with DefJam (Mercury).
Anthony is contributing, rhythm programming , synthesizers, various types of annoying noise and additional production.
Paul hager is engineering the project along with producer Malcom Springer who discovered the band.

Guster - The song "Airport" - remix Anthony did (Karyadi engineered) is getting great reviews and college radio airplay.

Upcoming - Upcoming projects in the works include, finishing the Entrain record (about to be mixed my audio guru Bob St. John), a Sacred Raisin Cakes record, a Megadeth remix, a Splashdown remix, and a Rentals remix.

 From AJR:
Got to hang out with Fletcher at Tree and Quad on the El Camino mixes. Awesome job, Fletcher. Its a very cool record.
Special thanks to Ed Roland of Collective Soul for getting the platinum record for Dosage (it's for my mom.) and to Bob St. John for hooking me up with that gig.
Also thanks to Cheryl Harrington and Kathy Anaya at Lippman Entertainment for all their day to day stuff.

MAY

Sarah Evans - Anthony Resta recently did some rhythm programming on Country Star Sarah Evans' new single, the song is a remake of a fifties classic, produced by Peter Collins.

Guster - (currently recording their sophomore release with producer Steve Lillywhite in San Francisco)
The band recently approached Anthony Resta's manager Kathy Anaya at Lippman Entertainment to have AJR do a remix of their Modern Rock hit "Airport Song". Anthony's liquid center version has just been completed taking the song into some really dark groove twisted mayhem. Karyadi Sutedja engineered the sessions along with AJR. Karyadi contributed some wild time consuming programmed pans that really added to the depth of the mix. Thanks KS.

Entrain - Tom Major and Brian Alex are producing the new Entrain CD along with Anthony J. at Rear Window Recording in Brookline. The 11 song adventure takes the band into some familiar as well as uncharted territory. To call this World Beat music only scratches the surface of where this disk is musically headed. Big pop hooks and a cool hip retro vibe make it a really innovative sound. Dave Leftkowitz is engineering the project and doing a fantastic job of it. Thanks to Brian, Tom, Sam, Clem, Ned, Dave and Hillary for being so enthusiastic and making the project so much fun to work on.

Missing Persons - Midi Genius Jeff Calder and AJR recently put together the "Liquid Centre Acid Samba Mix" of the Missing Persons classic "Mental Hopscotch" Both Warren Cuccurullo of Duran Duran And Dale Bozzio love the mix, but the label Cleopatra is reluctant to add it to the forthcoming remix record for unknown reasons. (usually involving the concepts time and money) These will tell if it is ever released. Karyadi Sutedja engineered the sessions.

Producer Giorgi Bano - GB was in working on a remix of the club classic "Sky High". Jeff and Anthony did the programming. Karyadi engineered the tracks. (about 48 tracks before vocals) Audio Guru Bob St. John is going to sort out our 10,000 ideas and make the track happen. Bob is the Best!

Josh Joplin Band - Anthony and Karyadi recently completed a mix and remix of the song "Empty Head" for the Josh Joplin Band in Atlanta for Shawn Mullins' SMG label.

Sacred Raisin Cakes - Industrial Folk band with incredible hooks and vocals, we are really excited to continue the project. We will start work on the third song in the near future.

Annette Kramer - Will be back in the studio in May to complete her forthcoming Castle von Buhler release. In a recent press release the label called the album "ground breaking" which coming from them is one of the highest compliments I have ever received. Annette is just awesome.

Siberia - John and Eve of Siberia, are working with anthony again bringing the ep up to 6 tracks. We are all having a great time recording and hate to see the project end. It's really great stuff and we are hoping to do a full record in the upcoming months.

echohead - Eric Johnson and Ed Wiley (from Nuno's "Schizophonic" live band) have a really cool gtr and electronica instrumental project. The music is really interesting and we're hoping for some film placements for it...

Special Thanks to:
9 West Mastering and Henk Kooistra for doing a great job mastering all our projects so far this year!

Sherman Filter Bank: an amazing company in Belgium..... they have been reinventing new ways to use vintage analog filtering technologies. This device should win a prize for its stunning array of potential abuses and uses. Nothing sounds exactly like what this beautifully crafted filter bank does. From silk to acid hand grenade explosions....simply incredible. We have only scratched the surface of what this is capable of and are completely blown away.

MARCH

Nomination - Anthony is nominated for Producer Of The Year at the 1999 Boston Music Awards. The ceremony takes place on April 22nd. More info about the awards and the music conference build around it can be found on the official site.

Annette K. - Castle von Buhler Records announced late March they have signed Annette K. (formerly of Opium Den) to their label. The first release, a ground-breaking full-length CD, is scheduled by fall 1999.

Splashdown - Splashdown, another Castle von Buhler-act, will be performing at the NEMO Music Showcase and Conference in Boston, at the Middle East downstairs, 472/480 Mass Avenue Cambridge MA, set-time 11:30. Middle East info: 617.864.EAST / NEMO info: 781-306-0441. Anthony will be playing percussion with the band.

Collective Soul - Now is an exciting time for the Georgia-based rockers, whose smash single "Heavy" set a new record for the number of times a single was played on radio in one week. Collective Soul's eighth #1 rock radio hit, "Heavy" was played 6,057 times the week of March 8th!! That staggering number beat out the previous record of 6,027 set by Metallica earlier this year. Collective Soul and Metallica are the only artists to ever cross the 6,000 plays threshold in rock radio. Meanwhile, "Run," which is featured on the soundtrack to "Varsity Blues" -- and, like "Heavy," on the Collective Soul's new album, "DOSAGE" -- remains firmly stationed in the Modern AC, Adult Top 40 and Pop Radio charts.

JANUARY

Overview 1998 has been non stop for both Anthony Resta and the studio which is now being managed by Karyadi Sutedja. Karyadi is a talented engineer from Indonesia who we are happy to have here on our staff (we are currently looking for interns with MP&E background as well).

Josh Joplin - The past several weeks, Anthony Resta has been working with Shawn Mullins and Russ Fowler on Josh Joplins next record down at Audio Arts, Orphan, and Southern Living studios in Atlanta. Josh is an amazing writer and the record is coming out really fantastic. Anthony added some twisted layered grooves and vintage analog synth stuff.

Suze Demarchi - Also while in Atlanta, Anthony spent five days working with Nuno Bettencourt on Suze's single 'Color of love' in Atlanta at Tree Recording. We spent 100 hours on the song , completely recutting it from the ground up. The only thing we kept from the original version were vocals. Thanks to JimZ and Paul D at Tree, and everyone at Sony/Mushroom in Australia who put up with our time overruns. The track has been added to Suze Demarchi's forthcomming solo debut 'TeleLove'...

David Mead - On the Nashville side, AJR has just completed work on three David Mead songs, including the single 'Bucket of Girls'. Anthony contributed rhythm programming, live drums, percussion loops and some quirky mellotron stuff on 'Bucket of Girls'. Jason Lehming is engineering and co producing with Peter Collins. Paul Hagar is currently mixing this springtime RCA release at East Iris Studios in Nashville.

Collective Soul and Shawn Mullins releases - Those familiar with Anthony's work with Duran Duran, and Nuno Bettencourt, will hear some of his grooves and atmospheres on the new Collective Soul single 'Run' and Shawn Mullins' new single 'Shimmer' both due out in February. 'Run' has been in heavy video rotation on both VH1 and MTV promoting the film "Varsity Blues". Anthony recorded his parts for 8 of the twelve songs, in Nashville at East Iris, and in Atlanta at Tree Recording and at his own "Bopnique Musique" in North Chelmsford Ma.

El Camino - Anthony J. has been working with producer Fletcher at Longview Farm in North Brookfield on the new El Camino Record. AJR did some live percussion and rhythm programming with producer/percussionist extraordinaire, George Recile. George is reknown for his work with James Brown, Keith Richards, and the Neville Bros. He scratched the surface at showing us what that second line groove is all about. George is a true "Groove Monster"and we were honored to be working with him. (pictures are on the way!)

Nuno Bettencourt - On Nuno's new disc 'Mourning Widows' Anthony J.Resta co-wrote 'True love in the Galaxy' with Nuno. AJR also did all the keyboards, bass and rhythm programming on the track. Also, the song, 'The air you breathe' was recorded during a six week period at AJR's studio this summer (Nuno has promised to change the studio credit's to reflect that).

Siberia - Recently, Anthony and Karyadi worked with John West and Eve of Siberia, on the tracks 'Sleep' and 'Vessell'. Their 5 song EP will be out in the springtime, and sent out to A&R people everywhere.

Rumble - The new Rumble disk is out in two weeks, Anthony worked on the disk with Producer Chris Lannon at PowerHouse studios in Ayer. It's rap core stuff, in the Rage Against the Machine genre, but definitely has a few twists of it's own.

 New Gear:
Pro-Tools (8 in and 8 out)
2 more Adats
future retro 777
earthworks cardiod/mic
avalon vacum tube mic pre/compressor/eq
mc 505 groove box
tc electronics Fireworks

2 victrolas and 300 records from the turn of the century(last one)

Anthony would personally like to thank Amanda at Funky Vibes who created this site and keeps doing all the updates [*insert pic of blushing webmaster*]. Amanda recently visited the studio on her trip from Holland. Here in America she also got to interview some of the ex Marky Mark Crew and was helping promote the Holland Hip Hop act "Zombi Squad". They have an amazing flow and I am sure good things are on the way for them.
