April 2000Ajax Ray O'Vaque signs with intelligent records - Shilo McDonald has signed Ajax's first solo record to Intelligent Records. He has been getting lots of college airplay and distribution. Thanks Shilo!
Collective Soul - Week 7 of recording the new Collective Soul record in Atlanta is underway. Anthony is producing the record with singer/songwriter Ed Roland. karyadi Sutedja is recording the record. Bob St. John is arriving later this month to do some mixes. The 11 tracks are a cool blend of heavy and more trippy mellow pop songs, but with the heavier rock stuff dominating a bit more than last years "Dosage". Anthony has been playing all the keyboards and sythesizer stuff as well as doing the rhythm programming. Elton John came in and sang and played on a song for an upcoming soundtrack and hung out for the day. It's the second time we got to hang out with him, and it was as surreal as the last time. He's so cooly and smart about what's new in music!
Shawn Mullins - Shawn Mullins' record is nearing completion, with a couple of more tracks to be completed in May.
Upcoming projects - This summer, Anthony and Karyadi hope to be in Boston working on a bunch of cool projects including, David Z's next solo techno song, new Mudhens stuff, some solo tracks with Gary Cherone, a new solo record for hip hop mastermind "Force" aka The Sorcerer. Some more stuff with Annette Kramer, Jawn P, Eric Johnson, Sacred Raisin Cakes, Donna Delory (Madonna's back up singer both in the studio and live), and a bunch of other cool stuff!
Full Devil Jacket - Full Devil Jacket's self titled debut is in the stores and doing well. We worked on their record at East Iris and New Reflections in Nashville all last summer. Paul Hagar mixed it and it really rocks hard. They are great guys too, so when they come to your town go see them and if you like Korn, Pantera, and heavy music of that nature you will like them a lot. The singer Josh Brown does some really good singing as well as screaming his brains out in complete sincerity. Everyone we have spoken to that bought the record luvs it. The reviews have been great except for one that said it should go back to the ADATs it came from (alternative press). That's complete crap. The drums were cut on analog tape and we used Sony 3348 machine which is worth about 300 ADAT units. So.... a social finger to the guy who wrote that. The record sounds huge! It's a complete unfair bashing. He must listen on a stereo he bought at Kmart.
