Live Magazine review for "Azure Wonder & Lust"

Martin Brown

It's no accident that the three CDs reviewed on this first page all stunningly brilliant. I'm hoping that you will actually be motivated to go out and purchase all three. Believe me, your life will be greatly enhanced.

I had never heard of Annette Farrington until this CD crossed my desk, I'm betting that none of will have heard of her either, and that is a tragedy The music on this CD encompasses elements of middle eastern Dead Can Dance, Tori Amos, rock and so much more.

The arrangements on the ten songs are absolutely stunning as Farrington takes us on a musical journey through her mind. The opening "Magic" is a strong, heavier song which gives way to track two, the more laid back and Tori sounding "Viva", complete with flutes and a very atmospheric feel. This contrast in style continues, with the louder and softer material alternating and both are equally evocative.
I really cannot say enough good things about this CD; how Farrington has managed to slip through the major label net is completely beyond my comprehension.
