Boston Soundcheck reviews Chad LaMarsh

By: Debbie Catalano

Will it sound absolutely cliche to say that Chad LaMarsh's CD title "It's About Time" is quite appropriate? Probably, but I'll sacrifice creativity for a second for the truth. I've known Chad LaMarsh's name for some time - mainly through seeing ads for his shows at The Rack in Faneuil Hall but I didn't realize until now that he was pursuing the original side of music as well. With his strong, loyal following, no doubt this title was in response to their desire to buy his original songs. Chad is certainly a strong performer - his multitude of live show performances shines through; he's comfortable, confident, and very tight musically and in his songwriting. I found Chad's music refreshing and spirited it's commercial, mainstream rock pop; very radio-ready, which can be attributed not only to Chad's songwriting and arrangements but to the always brilliant production work by Anthony J. Resta. I don't want my usage of the word "commercial" to be misconstrued Chad's songs are pure, original and delivered with sincere passion and edgy energy. Overall, I equally loved and was impressed by the entire CD Chad's dynamic performance and the warm, fulfilling, utterly pro production and sound. If this doesn't get on the radio somehow, I'll be both disappointed and surprised - Chad is ready and more people ought to hear this talent.
