NOK self-titled CD reviewed

By: Matt

Formed out of the semi-successful local bands C.A.G.E.(vocalist Jeremy Jenkins), High Defiance (bassist Brian Keane) and Crawlspace (guitarist Mike Merchand and drummer John Keane) and filled out by guitarist Frank Busshaus, Nok have come to wreak havoc on the Boston scene.

Goddamn does this kick ass! These 5 songs have awesome production (just the right balance of vocals, penetrating guitar/bass tones and a slamming drum sound) and should appeal to fans of the bottom end Korn approach or the straight ahead Pantera/Machine Head camps. 'Wearing Thin' severs my limbs, 'Stick' kills with its slow, building riffs to combustion and 'New Slam' has Jeremy blowing blood vessels due to his intense, pissed off Phil/Jet melding. 'The Butcher' has an eerie, keyboard trippy vibe that provides a sinister ending to probably the best local CD I've heard in quite some time.

You call yourself a metal fan - Nok yourself into this essential purchase, see them live when you can and expect big things from these gentlemen.
