CD Baby.com reviews Siberia's Harm's WayThis album beautifully combines genres with an eclectic mix of songs ranging from Slow and Moody Alternative, Triphop and the Twangy sound of Americana. A highly personal CD featuring poetry of female singer Randy Farmer & Music by guitarist John MitchellThe first Siberia CD Damage released on Necessary Records, and while managed by Art Collins (Iggy PoP) Siberia did performances at SxSW, MTV Spring Break and did shows in NY, Memphis, Boston, New Orleans and Atlanta. Other members of the touring band included Anne Hussick (Band of Susan's) and Chad Royce (Swimmer) Vinnie Miranda (Dido). Siberia gained notoriety as a solid band playing regularly at NY's Mercury Lounge, CBGB's, CB's Gallery, Wetlands and the Rodeo Bar. After leaving their previous label the band signed with Little Pony Records and went back into the studio with producer Anthony Resta, (Collective Soul, Duran Duran, Missing Persons.) Resta was eager to collaborate and record with Siberia after hearing the band's 4 track demos of new material. Harm's Way is a combination of Resta's production who played keyboards, added sound efx and programmed drum loops along with Mitchell's slide, rythm and twangy guitars and even has movie samples from indie film god Lars Von Trier. Randy Farmer serves up her own special brand of her native New Orleans influenced vocals and while her poetry is sometimes coarse, she has considerable story telling power. Stand out tracks include the songs; Quicksand, Virus, Vessel and Cold.
