DECISION ---------------------------------- Written by: Juliane Probst E-mail: Juliane-Probst@t-online.de Timeline: at New Pacifica ---------------------------------- Author comments: My name is Juliane and I'm from Germany. I've made my first fan- fic story and I hope you all like it. It is centered around Julia and Alonzo (my favorite couple). I want to thank Andy because he read, corrected and added something to the story (really good job!!!). ----------------------------------------------------------------- Narrated by Alonzo: "We reached New Pacifica at the end of spring. Everyone was happy and enjoying the still cold sea. During our way through the continent we found few cargo pods. Most were opened and empty, (probably robbed by Grendlers), but some in quite good condition. Apart from vehicles and food there was also quite a lot of building supplies, so we already started and build hospital and some houses for soon arriving colonists. Many things have changed: John and Devon were a couple now, Bess was pregnant, True was Julia's assistant and Uly had many lessons by the Terrians and was spending more and more time with them, much to the disgust of his mom. And there were we: Julia and I. Although we're closer then ever there is something between us. When we arrived here it started and now we are both afraid of choices we will have to, or be forced, to make." *** Alonzo was walking on the beach. Walking and thinking over and over it again. >>How was he going to tell her?<< He would stay in New Pacifica because he loved her. Loved her with all his heart and mind. While he was walking he saw someone sitting on a rock in the distance, while he walked towards this person, he recognized that it was Bess. He walked over to her. "Hi mommy!" he grinned. "Hi Flyboy!" She knew he didn't like it anybody calling him that. Just Julia was allowed to say it. So he made a face and Bess started to laugh, which brought Alonzo to laugh too. "How are you?" he asked looking on her stomach. "Fine!" she answered. "Good! Want to come on a trip to Flowers Paradise with me?" "Of course!" she said. "I want to collect some new flowers. May I pick you up in 30 minutes?" "Sure! See you later," Bess replied. Flowers Paradise was a place two hours away from New Pacifica. There was a waterfall with a little lake in front of it and flowers were blooming in all colors. It smelled like heaven! *** Meanwhile in New Pacifica: Julia Heller looked over the results on her computer. >>That is not possible! It can't be!<< She re-tested and re-tested again but the results were always the same. >>What would Alonzo say?? She didn't know. Oh god, she didn't even know if he was staying on G889.<< She felt sick, really really sick! Not knowing whether it was because of the ignorance or the little child she was carrying inside her. She only felt sick! >>I will talk to him tonight! But what will he say, what will he do??<< She went home to her and Alonzo's house. Thinking how she could tell him. *** "Jump in, little mommy!" Alonzo called to Bess when he waited in the DuneRail. "Here I am! Let's go!" Bess smiled when she said that. She was glad to be a little away from Morgan. He cared about her - just a little bit too much! They drove fast but careful. Alonzo was afraid something could happen when he drove in his usual way! They talked about some uninteresting things until they reached Flowers Paradise. But when they stopped, they also stopped talking. It was breathtaking, these colorful flowers and it smelled so good! They walked around, picked up flowers here and there, drank the fresh water and took a shower under the waterfall. They enjoyed the peace. Then Bess walked over to Alonzo. "Lonz?" "Yes? What's wrong?" he asked. "Nothing with me, but it seems that you two have problems! Come on, tell me!" she said. "I don't know what you mean!" he tried to deny it. "Yes you do!" she pressed for answer, knowing there was something that bothered her friend very much. Alonzo said nothing for a few minutes. But then all came out! "Maybe it is because I didn't tell her I would stay, yet. Or because she is working so much! I don't know!" he said. "Why didn't you tell her?" Bess asked "I was afraid she would not want me to stay. I could not stand to live without her. Bess, I love her more than anything in the universe!" he told her. "Then tell her. I know she loves you too. And you love her!" "Yes I do!" He smiled now. "I think I will tell her at home tonight," Alonzo decided. "Ok. I think that everything will work out! I hope so!!" she said hoping that their friends will manage to resolve their problems. "Ok. Ready to head home?" he asked. "I think so! Let's start!" she answered. When Alonzo started to walk to the Dune Rail Bess screamed in an awful tone. "What's wrong?" Alonzo asked scared. "My water broke, I am getting the baby!" she answered under pain. "Are you able to walk to the Dune Rail and to drive back with me?" he asked. "I think so." She walked a few steps and then lowered herself to the sand. "I can't. It hurts too much and I think it is coming soon!" "Ok. Stay where you are. I'm calling Julia!" Alonzo said, trying not to get panic. "Julia? It's me, Alonzo! Come in, please! This is really serious!" "'Lonz, what's wrong? Are you Ok?" Julia asked "Yes, I'm ok. But Bess is getting the baby now. Please hurry. We're at Flowers Paradise." "Stay calm! How is Bess? Is she able to come back to New Pacifica?" she asked, feeling little jealous of her friend, but after while she decided against it, after all it was her own fault, she was the one pushing Alonzo away. "No she isn't. She says she is getting the baby now! I don't know what to do." he admitted. "Ok Alonzo. You stay there and wait for us. I'll get Morgan and Devon and we'll be on our way ASAP! Stay in contact!" she said. Bess was getting worse and worse, with every passing minute, so Alonzo requested instructions from Julia over gear. "Alonzo, get some water and make a fire! Boil the water! Then look if you are able to see the baby's head." Alonzo did what she said, and few minutes later called Julia back with new information: "Julia??" "I am here." "I can't see the head now, but contractions are every 2 minutes." "OK. When contractions get to below one minute, you should be able to see the head coming out. "Hey. I am not a doctor. Get here before that happens. I can't deliver the baby." "Guess you'll have to. We are still about 15 minutes away. You have to encourage Bess to push, when contractions get below one minute, got it?" "Yes, doc. But get here AS..." gear became silent. And Alonzo almost started to panic, when he saw Bess's eyes on him. Meanwhile Bess was pressing and screaming. As contractions were under a minute, he started encouraging Bess. Alonzo did what he thought was right and then with the final press a little child was in his arms. It was so little that Alonzo thought he would drop it. But he didn't. He cleaned the boy's nose and mouth, then made sure the umbilical cord was not hinder the baby's movements. Alonzo wrapped the child in his leather jacket and gave Bess her baby. She cried of the joy as Alonzo's smile was stretching from one ear to another. They sat there in silence just looking at the boy, which Bess named Anthony Martin. Fifteen minutes later the group with Julia, Devon and Morgan arrived in Flowers Paradise. They were greeted by mother's and also 'Doctor's' smile. Morgan, the proud father, took his little boy in his arms and kissed him and his mommy. Julia examined little Anthony with her diaglove and finished what Alonzo started. Devon was observing Julia and the little baby, while Alonzo walked away and sat on a trunk to breathe out the strain of the past hour. After Julia concluded examination, baby was put in towels and prepared for transport home. Bess was lifted into the second Dune Rail and group was ready to leave. It was then that Julia noticed that Alonzo was missing. "Where is Alonzo?" she asked the others. Devon said, "I think I saw him heading in this direction." "Ok. Drive home! I need to talk to Alonzo. We will come back with other vehicle." She said and saw Bess looking knowingly at her. When the others started, she made her way through the trees and bushes, calling Alonzo's name. Then she saw him sitting on a trunk. "Hey, Flyboy!" she said but wasn't getting an answer. "Alonzo! Are you Ok?" Julia asked. "Yes, I'm Ok. What's with Bess and the baby?" "They are Ok and on their way home. You made a good job, honey!" she said and kissed him on his head. "Thanks, but I didn't do as much as you are maybe thinking," he replied and relaxed a little bit. "No you did much more. Thanks to you mother and baby are both alive and well. This is the only thing that matters. Are you sure you are OK?" "Yes, just a little bit shaken," he admitted to Julia who also sat down on the rock. They sat there in silence for a while. Then Alonzo said, "Julia, we really need to talk!" "Yes, I know!" Julia answered and continued, "I am sorry that I hadn't had so much time for you in the past weeks. And I'm also sorry that I pushed you away when we were together. I didn't want to, I was just so exhausted, and also afraid. I was trying to detach from you so that it wouldn't hurt so much when you leave for the station. You have become so much more for me in these months. You have given me your support when nobody has, and you also gave me your love, which I didn't deserve, after what I have done to you. I love you so much and I am afraid to loose you." After she had spoken Alonzo could understand happenings of last few weeks, and this made his heart ache. He could have stop her hurting, just by telling her. "I am sorry too. Maybe if I wouldn't have been so afraid to lose you, I might have told you before that I will stay here. I want to stay here with you and have children and grandchildren. Live in space ships doesn't have that... attraction more after live here... with you. I love you with all my heart, Julia." This made Julia Heller totally speechless. Not even in her wildest dream, ok maybe in her wildest dream, didn't she expect him to say, what he said next. "Julia Heller, will you marry me?" Tears were running down Julia's cheeks and Alonzo started to think he had done something wrong. But Julia answered, "Yes, Alonzo. Yes I will marry you!" And both embraced and kissed. Julia broke off their kiss. "But 'Lonzo I have something to tell you!" "Ok, let's hear it!" He smiled, after all it couldn't be anything that bad. "I know this is maybe a shock and you will ask if I am sure..." "Doc, come to the end!" "Alonzo I'm pregnant!" Finally it came out. A long silence followed. Alonzo made a shocked face, but then a big smile lit up his face. He hugged her tight and kissed her knowing that everything will get right at the end. *** Voice of Alonzo Solace: "After we made our way back to New Pacifica we told both good news to other advancers. We got married two months later. And six months later our precious daughter named Jennifer Venus Solace was born. Colony ship arrived at the beginning of summer and the Terrians healed the Syndrome kids. My heart still yearned for space, when colony ship departed, but as I turned I saw our baby daughter and my wife with tears in her eyes, and I knew I could have never left here. I found love and friends here and I wouldn't have ever traded it for anything else." --END-- Characters are owned by Amblin Entertainment and Universal Pictures.
