JT answers questionnaire
We were given the opportunity to send John a questionnaire so we thought we'd ask him some in depth questions about mainly his solo album and work with the Neurotic Outsiders:
Was recording your solo album a matter of filling up some time between Duran albums, or would you have made time for it anyhow?
Well, DD albums do leave me a lot of free time, but I wouldn't want ALL of my time dedicated to DD either, it's good to 'play the field' a bit, I think.
What do Simon, Nick and Warren think of your solo album (musically)?
I think they are all happy for me. Someone had to do it soon enough. If DD are gonna be around forever (and why not?) we have to satisfy our individual needs too (or something).
Quite a few other artists joined the Neurotic Boy Outsiders on stage, about which guest performance were you most excited?
Billy Idol always brought something great to the show - I love Slash, he's a pussycat with great on stage presence - Setzer is a pro-genius! And Iggy was just fucking frightening! Simon, naturellement, was my favourite, having my buddy up there was great.
What did you think of Pierce Brosnan as James Bond in Goldeneye?
I like Pierce, he's smooth and funny.
And we also asked him if he views his fans differently now, if he feels he always has full control over how a Duran album sounds, what other solo projects he's working on and what it was like to work with Steve Jones, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum - people with a totally different musical background. The full, handwritten questionnaire is in TDGD issue 32! Order this Back Issue!
