Q&A with Nick Rhodes
Dear Nick,
Unfortunately many of your fans have very little idea of what Duran Duran is up to at the moment. The questions below are some of the things we've been asked recently and we would greatly appreciate it if you could spare us some of your time to answer them. On behalf of all your fans, many thanks and best wishes.
Esther, Mandy & Manon
What is the current status of the next Duran Duran album you're working on at the moment? How close is it to being finished?
Backing tracks all finished, lyrics halfway there, should be mixed by February
What kind of sound/feel does it have? We know this kind of question is hard to answer, but what kind of album can we expect?
Underground pop/dance + slight 70's influence.
Can you give us some song titles and does the album have a (working) title?
Working title - Hallucinating Elvis. Others - Lady Xanax, Dr. Vibes, Lavalamp, Mars meets Venus
Which other musicians have contributed so far to the album?
Steve, Wes and John is on a couple left over from Medazzaland sessions.
What kind of promotional activities do you have in mind for when the album is finished?
Too early to say.
This is not meant sarcastically, but will this next album get some promotion outside of North America? Any chance of a tour in Europe?
Yes. We would like to do some European dates.
Which label are you planning on releasing future Duran material on?
Hasn't been decided yet.
The 2nd Greatest Hits album and video will be coming out shortly. Are you doing any promotion for that or is it strictly an EMI matter?
We will be doing a little promotion and probably a short UK tour.
Suggestions for a next tour: Secret Oktober again please (us non-North Americans didn't get to hear it live, but it was stunningly beautiful) and The Seventh Stranger plus New Religion. Please?
Point registered.
