Riviera F
UK band with a song produced by Nick

(TDGD 66, October 2004)

Being huge Duran Duran fans ourselves we were really flattered Nick wanted to work with us, and all because Alexa gave Nick a demo that we recorded ourselves for £50!

Nick is truly inspirational and very fun to work with. Sometimes it was really weird that we are actually working with somebody we admire so much, but you forget about that and just enjoy it.

We used to do really silly things together. Nick would get lots of red wine and it would all kick in on those late nights in the studio. One time we got Nick to do crank calls to random people in the middle of the night, when we were all getting tired of doing music. Him and Mark Tinley were very good at that. It was just hilarious that these poor people didn't have a clue they are on the phone with Nick Rhodes.

Another thing we found out about Nick is that he is so healthy he never touches any kind of junk food. Sushi is his favourite thing in the world. Not sure how it happened now but somehow one very late night we actually made Nick eat this thing called Bananco, which must be the world's most vile snack! We picked it up as a gift for Nick, as he really likes silly things like that. He was quite disgusted by this one though.

It was so interesting to hear Nick's stories about his experiences. He has such an incredible life. So much success, and he still remains a real down to earth person.

The great thing about Nick is that he has so many ideas, thousands, non-stop. He always wanted us to like what we were doing. He did not want us to change our musical direction or what Riviera F is about, only bring out the best and encouraging us to come up with ideas that would make the tracks even better. Most of all, Nick is a great musician, and he made our music sound amazing, for which we are grateful to him!
